Working with older properties
Older roofs rarely sit as neatly as modern ones. Rafter spacings vary, timbers move over a century of settlement, and the original tiles might not even be made any more. Getting a good result means matching materials sympathetically and setting out the coursing to suit the roof as it actually is, not how it should be on paper.
If a property's in a conservation area or listed, the covering may need to match the original in material and look. We'll flag this early so it can be factored into the quote and any consents that are needed.
Coastal exposure
Roofs facing the Channel take a real battering — driving rain, salt-laden air and strong wind uplift. Fixing specifications matter more here than inland; mechanically fixed ridges, correctly clipped perimeter tiles and well-detailed verges all make a real difference to how long a roof lasts.
